For instance, I haven't had an alarm clock in well over 10 years. What else has the iPhone (or similar devices) replaced in your life?

Yeah, answering machines were awful.

We were reminiscing recently about how when you'd want to watch a movie, in the past, you'd have to drive to the store, look at the movies and see if the one you wanted had a physical copy. If not, you weren't watching that movie. Then, you had to physically return it. What a different way of life it was.

Not that many things, mainly my iPod, map stuff, and looking up small things like restaurant menus. One thing I didn't expect it to replace was my computer webcam, because of a camera app I found out about for OBS. The camera hardware is really good quality, the app itself has great picture options, and OBS gives you a lot of freedom to do fun things with

I cannot imagine having to go back to not having a smartphone. The world literally is changed because of the invention. Here is a nice [british-oriented] list!

First and formost: Camera. Both my still and video camera gear have gathered dust for years.

Alarm clock, answering machine, landline, CD player have all been replaced by it too.

I pretty much do all my gaming on it as well, so I guess it has replaced my old xbox and playstation consoles too. But perhaps that would have happened anyway. I get bored of consoles pretty quick.

Camera, iPod/mp3 player, calendar (although I still buy the yearly Appalachian Trail calendar for decoration), landline, alarm clock.
