I'm sorry if this is a double post, but I needed to give this issue a thread of it's own:

Using Verizon Wireless Internet: If my iPhone13 Pro Max / iOS 16.4 gets 189 mbps in my home WIFI network & my 11" iPad Pro / iOS 16.4 gets 131 mbps in the same WIFI net, why the heck does my 19,1 iMac w Ventura 13.4 get ONLY 51 mbps??????? Have I turned on something or turned off anything to give me this slow downloading on the iMac alone? They are all 3 devices signed into the Primary 5G home wifi network. I have a separate 2.4G guest net.

Does your iPhone and iPad get those speeds when they're at the same location as the iMac? Distance/location/walls/obstacles can make a big difference, especially with 5GHz wifi.

If you are only "2 ft" from the router, why not connect via ethernet?
You should do this to see what kind of speeds you can achieve on the iMac with wifi "taken out of the loop".

Seems like a number of folks are complaining about Ventura vs. wifi ...

I have an ethernet cable clipped from the iMac to router. It made no difference. Since my two hand held devices get 4 times the speed w WIFI, I unplugged the ethernet cable.

I've spent this evening trying to get the router setup correctly. I assigned one 5G net, and one 2.4 net. The 2.4 name is completely different and new password. I have RESET for 3 sec the router, wiping all settings. I have disabled both nets and then re-enabled both to clear settings as well. The iMac uses the 5G WIFI net, along w iPhone and iPad. Speeds tonite measured within 2 feet of Verizon Wireless Router: iMac=50mbps download, iPhone=208mbps, iPad=250mbps.

50mbps is ridiculous, when my other handheld devices get 200+mbps. I have to have shut off or narrowed the wifi tunnel of data flow, but how and where?

My Smart TV Hisense 50" can see only the 2.4ghz net, why or how did I hide the 5Gghz net from the TV. I RESET the router for 3 sec. I have trashed network settings on the TV. I turned off both 5G and 2.4G, then re-enabled, the TV can still not see the 5G net.

Still do not know why the tv cannot see the 5G network, Hisense says it does.
Downloaded a Ventura installer. Wiped the iMac after backup. Migrated data from backup.
The imac now downloads at 200+mbps. Dont ask me why it didnt use the 5G before. It does now after wipe and migration back.

Working w routers and wifi settings on devices is like black magic. You will have all the choices correct and the only answer is to RESET completely to manufactures specs, either the router, the device, or the tv.
