You could look through the archive

https://www.macrumors.com/site.php?mode=archive

However I suppose you do not see the adverts/prices and if you are a really old member it will look different.

I had actually forgotten why exactly I joined up but seeing what was on the homepage at the time

https://www.macrumors.com/2006/01/15/macworld-san-francisco-2006-rumor-wrapup-winners-and-losers/

I can now remember, I had been tracking the rumors surrounding the intel iMac release. I had been a lurker here since pre iMac G5 release and bought the iMac G5 after following the keynote coverage here (unfortunately it was a rev A and a total lemon hence me following the Intels).

I can't get the actual date I joined through dmmcintyre3's link, but the following one does show a story from my join date of 1st August 2004 which unfortunately still has relevance today– it turned out Steve Jobs had sent an email out to his staff to let them know he'd recently gone under the knife to remove a rare form of pancreatic cancer...

Looks like the current version.

I joined because my cousin gave me an iPhone 16GB (First gen), and now I'm a proud owner of a Power Mac G5, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 16GB, and a couple of other crap you don't care about because Apple doesn't manufacture it:p

No seriously, I got a summer job this summer just so I can pay for a new Mac.

...like, I'm probably going to get around $1500, after 50% goes in the bank, so it looks like refurb iMac right now.

July 2003, I win

rumors of an Apple & IBM partnership, early panther screenshots, and speculation that the music store might go international.

Things certainly have changed.

I guess I can admit that this is what it looked like when I started following MacRumors...July 2001.

I resisted signing up for the forums for three-and-a-half years for fear of getting sucked into it, but I lost that battle when the original iPod shuffle was released. And here I am four years later doing it full-time. :D

Of all things a 2004 ipod shuffle compelled you to be an active MR member?

Hey, it was a ground-breaking product. Hard to imagine looking back at it, but it was pretty darn cool at the time. Tiny 1 GB iPod that doubled as a USB flash drive for only $150! :)

I remember joining right before the switch to Intel, but I was still set on buying the iMac G5, I didn't realise back then how much of a big deal it all was :p

I remember voting on that poll in the top left, so somewhere around here:

Just to clarify, this wasn't when I first joined the forums, I lurked for a good 2 years before joining the forums, I didn't want to be asking the same n00by questions that I kept seeing in forum spy :p
