What Do 4 Up Arrows Mean?

I have an iPad running iOS 11.1.1, and 4 up arrows appeared in the top right corner of the screen. What do they mean? Restarting seems to have gotten rid of them, but I'd still like to know what they're for.

Only other time I've seen something like this, was when someone reported having the command symbol show up like that - It looks like the shift symbol. Do you have a keyboard connected? I have a feeling it could be somehow related

They look like the Apple Maps lane guidance arrows I get on my iPhone
