i am currently a mac virgin, i've needed to get one for the past two years for the course im studying and have only just raised enough capital to buy one so i got all excited other day thinking i would be coming home with my new mac book but alas no, everywheres sold out of them and the stores i went to are not getting anymore in..all i want to know is why, is there a new version coming out really soon and if so when? and if i wait, would it be worth my while..in a pickle. after saving this long i dont really want the tail end of an old model so if anybody could shed some light on the subject i would be very greatfull.
thanks

Nobody here knows...a compilation of MacBook rumors can be found here. Notice how many predictions of new MacBooks being "right around the corner" have been wrong so far.

Have you tried major retailers like CompUSA or Best Buy? (Most Best Buys don't sell Macs. You'd be better off checking out CompUSA.) Or, you could order it from Apple.com. Since you're a student, you could get that nifty little student discount. :D

I'd go for it. Two years - holy shiz. That's a long time to be saving up for something. You deserve it.

If i were you i would just buy it right from Apple. I mean Refurb'd white ones are going for $949. You could buy this, and spend the extra money on the Extended AppleCare.

Good Luck with your search though.
