iOS What do I need? Creating an iPhone App

I'm new to this so I'm not sure how to go about it.

but what things do you need to create and get an iPhone app approved?

I have taught myself basic web design in the past with some PHP/MySQL knowledge mixed in to create my own database driven websites etc

but I would like to get into creating iPhone Apps so I'm looking for some tips etc, sites to go to, software to download etc etc etc
