Hey,

I just wanted some input on some of the sites im working on:

www.toppokersites.org

www.pokerprizes.org

I have others, but just wanted inputs on those, which i designed for customers. You can criticize the h*ll outta it if you want lol.

Thanx

Oh, and both sites done on a mac! Now to design somemore on my new macbook pro! I love it.

whats weird is that the pokerprizes one was designed on a pc. The colors on my mac look nothing like the colors on a pc...any pc i go to, the website looks nice. But when i go to my macbook pro..it looks real bright.

Im looking at it right now on a 3 computers actually..all pcs..and they look great, the green is darker. But on my macbook pro..its bright as hell.

I wonder if any other designers see this too?

Is your MBP screen calibrated? My experience is that macs are bright/contrasty out of the box. They look good, but aren't true to color. Which is weird, cause you'd think they'd be pretty well calibrated. This is based off of comparison between my company's MBP default color profile and the calibrated profile from an Eye One.

yea i tried it at the apple store as well..it was bright their too. I dont think it does show the true color, its pretty much the oposite. If i have a site that is bright, the macbook pro shows it to be darker, and if the site is dark, the macbook pro shows it brighter.

Their should be some way to fix this issue. Its not a life or death situation, but as a graphic designer, i dont want to have customers say this is too dark, or this is too bright, and then me have to design it all over again in a diff color scheme.

It doesn't matter if you tried it at the Apple store. My point is that all macs come with certain color calibrations, and I think the default on them is to make media, etc... look good, not necessarily accurate. It might make DVD playback look "better" on the mac than on the pc counterpart, but at the same time make websites and the like look washed out.

Similar to how all iMacs now ship with glossy screens - Apple thinks it makes movies, etc look "better", but it's a given that (current) glossy methods unnaturally "enhance" color.

You will see the effect you are describing if the macs you are on have much higher brightness and or contrast settings - making the image appear to be washed out. Chances are you colored your images on a budget monitor?

Well I am going to disagree with the other posters on the green issue. I am usually a pretty muted person, don't like bright colors too much, but in this particular topic (poker) I thought it was okay and made a splash, I did not care much for the second one but I loved the green with the strong yellow.

The 'pokerprizes' site would look better if it was centres! It'll be much nicer to look at. Personaly I quite like the green ;)

Edit: maybe it's just my browser showing it aligned to the left, I'm browsing from my iPod touch, so it can be hard to judge! Still like the green though!

Edit Edit: Yeah...just me! Appears normal on my MacBOok!

pokerprizes.org isnt done yet..still working on it. I just sold toppokersites.org 2 months ago. Will be putting pokerprizes.org for sale in about a month..once completed.

I just checked pokerprizes again..it is centered.

The first one looks great. Pokerprizes.org is down says Hostgator 404 Page not found

Really the site looks fine. I do think the green is harsh. I checked it on a pc and it still looked the same to me. I would recommend a gradient like you see here:

http://www.prittprosport.cz/

The red on that site would be way too harsh if not for the gradient. I know gradients are way overused, but I feel here it could really improve the site.

I do not mean that this issue should hinder you from making the site live; really the site looks good. I just think you could improve it greatly with this five minute touch-up.
