I have been watching the iPod Touch line with a lot of interest. The problem is, I am the kind of person that wants to carry all of their media. Right now I have my iPod Classic with all of my photos, music, and videos on this one device.

My question is, what time span do you think we are looking at for the release of a large storage iPod Touch in the neighborhood of 128GB of flash storage. Do you think prices of flash memory will be low enough to see a 128gb iPod Touch for next year's iPod/iTunes event?

The problem isn't just cost -- it's size, too. The reason that the iPod touch has often been available with a larger capacity than the iPhone is because the lack of a phone inside it leaves room for two memory modules. But what you're asking for is for each of those memory modules to be four times as large as the ones in the iPod touch now. I'd guess you're looking at more like 18-24 months than next year for tech feasible. Also judging from the response Apple is getting from larger iPods now, unless they start selling a lot more HD content to users, they're probably not going to have a very large market base for >64GB immediately....

Maybe I am confused then, isn't the form of memory in the iPod Touch the same kind of memory that I am putting into my blackberry in the form of an SD card the size of my thumbnail? If so, don't they have 32gb cards on the market right now, and if the Touch has two memory modules wouldn't it just be a matter of price?
