it seems like people mostly love OS X for the beauty and simple of it-it just works- ..but didnt you notice the power of it?!
I like how I didn't have to buy a Vista laptop
Seriously though, I find that everything is easier and better in OS X. It's difficult to describe, but OS X just makes more sense. I guess that cliché of "it just works" does fit.
The sexy hardware doesn't hurt things either.

What I like:
- OS X very seldom sollicits the user's input. It is a maintenance-free operating system. Installing/uninstalling is a breeze. No defragmentation needed. Upgrades are painless. No need for antivirus or third-party firewall. No inopportune and arcane pop-up messages.
- the anti-aliased fonts are gorgeous (but need getting used to)
- freeware / shareware / independent developers software is top notch: Cyberduck, Rapidweaver, etc.
- the pre-installation of must-have applications and the limited choice of third-party software is a plus for me: you can be assured the quality is good, the user base is large, no need to worry about what you should and should not buy.
The minus:
- The Mac version of Microsoft Office is not 100% compatible with the Windoz version and this will get worse with mac Office 2008. I wish both versions were strictly identical in terms of functionality and interface. Leave it to Apple and others to design a Mac-like office suite. As for running Office under Boot Camp, it is a hassle. Using Parallels adds significantly to the cost.
Overall, I am a very happy switcher. Since February 2005.

I'm from Windows, I tried Linux but felt like the hassles, having to sign up for forums, talk in an IRC just to get problems that they could never really solve just wasn't worth it.
I like OS X for the stability, with simplicity. Apps crash for me even less they did in Linux, and definatly Windows. I like Quicksilver, it's turned into my fav app of all time in a couple of months.
The entire OS just feels more solid then Windows, you expect it to work, where in Windows I was expecting it to fail so often.

Everything you've said and Automator...
Automator just saves me so much time and allows me to get the most out of the software and OS.
A couple of examples is making Quicktime get to full screen (so no need for pro) and resizing, renaming batches of images etc... it can do loads!
I also love Front row as well... after a hard day of doing loads of flash animations, web designing and PHP scripting, nothing beats pressing the Menu button on the remote and sticking on a good film
WTF?
(Or are you talking about peripherals? Which I still believe is slightly better, or the same as linux.)
