The Misty Mountains
I have quite a large collection of Christmas music, among other things the Time Life Treasury of Christmas and Mormon Tabernacle Choir, I originally purchased in the late 80s that covers from the 1940s-1980s. Is any modern Christmas music still recorded?

This morning (Merry Christmas!) turned on my Bose Sound Dock and original iPod, only to find that while the iPod was playing away, my Sound Machine is no longer producing sound. :( Option 2 break out a portable CD player, and the CDs to manually switch them, such a chore! :p

Usually I listen to the radio quite a bit. But at Christmas due to the Christmas music I listen to my iTunes playlists that all contain zero Christmas music.
I've never been a fan of Christmas music. Just not my thing.

Normally, I'm not much of a fan of Christmas music, but actually, what I realise is the case is that I am not a fan of incessant Christmas music from Hallowe'en onwards.

At present, I am almost entirely removed from any environment where Christmas music might be played continuously, so, when a colleague played some last night - and politely sought my approval in advance - I had no problem whatsoever with this; in fact, Christmas music on Christmas Eve night is singularly appropriate, and I enjoyed it.

Likewise, when one of my brothers - his wife, my sister-in-law - is German - sent me a link to Silent Night sung in German, I was more than happy to listen to it.

I am definitely not a fan of incessant Christmas music. It’s being played today. Although many of the songs are enjoyable to listen to, for me it’s mostly a connection to my past and tradition.

I downloaded a "Christmas Essentials" playlist from Apple Music and played it last night at a family Christmas Eve gathering. Fifty songs, almost 3 hours and it was excellent. Everyone enjoyed it. Had music from Dean Martin to the Kinks.

How much $ was that?

We don't celebrate Christmas, (I prefer to celebrate Sir Isaac Newton's birthday or the 1968 Earthrise photo from Apollo 8 on Christmas Day), but I must say that I do rather like Kacey Musgrave's holiday tune. Her music always makes me happy.

I have an ever-growing collection of Christmas music that I have been accumulating through the years, but I notice that I seem to still go back to certain long-time favorites: Mannheim Steamroller, The Carpenters, Kenny G, Montserrat Caballe, Barbra Streisand, Jackie Evancho, Danny Wright........

My favorite is an album called "A Christmas Gift For You From Phil Spector". It has The Ronettes, The Crystals, and Darlene Love and was released in 1963. I found the CD on eBay.

Favorite xmas song this year is "Celebrate me Home" by Kenny Loggins.

For anyone who might want to take a listen (and then find the CD) here is the entire LP from some good poster at Youtube.

I stream what ever is available, be it Pandora, XM radio or Apple Music.

Same here. The only thing worse than incessant XMas music on the radio is getting one of those songs stuck in your head and have it auto-repeat

I am another who is not a fan of incessant Christmas music. Fortunately for me it is easy enough to avoid the big shopping malls as much as possible, and I don't watch much television or listen to streamed music. I listen to music only when I want to, and to the music I've chosen at the time. That's why I still like CDs for the car or playlists on the iPod in the car, as well as in the house.....

Christmas music doesn't bother me at all. I don't start listening to it at home or in the car until the day after Thanksgiving, but it certainly doesn't bother me if someone plays it before then. I enjoy it.

This Christmas when we were prepping the house and food, I used my phone to play a few AC/DC albums while there was Christmas music playing. Ear buds saved my sanity.

Dear God, please don't laugh too hard at this, but its just not Christmas unless I'm listening to this while baking, just like my mom used to!!!

When I was approx 5 or 6, this was my favorite Christmas song on the whole album (and in general), lol
