What new photo viewer? Where?
Took a bit of digging to come across that. Seems like the old way of looking at each photo individually is still there if you then tap on one of the photos. Seems like a nice addition of being able to see and scroll all of the photos part of the post instead of just going through them one by one, although that option is still there too.In the newsfeed when there is more than one picture in a post, when you click on the picture it takes you to a weird, ugly interface with a white background where the pictures scroll vertically. Once again, another completely unnecessary and inferior change.
How is it improved in any way? It was easier and more consistent with the interface to side scroll on a black background. This is just ugly and awkward.Took a bit of digging to come across that. I'm with you. I prefer scrolling sideways and when I'm finished just flicking up to return to the newsfeed. Now I have to hit the X button. I know first world problems.![]()

So far I seem to like having both options.
It simply ain't a bother, let alone a big deal.Again, it's a completely unneccessary change and extra step and it's disorienting as everyone's used to side scrolling which is still how it works everywhere else in the app. It's stupid.

Most people are not. Some are, but even out of those most only complain about change and not even what the change is and then end up liking it or just living with it without any issues.Maybe not to you, but most people are extremely fed up with Facebooks regular erratic tampering with its UI. Look around, do searches, open your eyes.
This creates a completely unnecessary extra step to zoom in on a photo with no added benefit.

As for Facebook (or really any other app) those who actually use it know that they change things almost constantly and that there's absolutely nothing new about any of that. Nothing shocking or surprising. And there's really nothing that can be done about it.
So what's the point of asking anyone here why something on Facebook changed? No one would know and even if they would they can't change it back so it's all pretty moot, especially when it comes to something trivial and inconsequential like this...of course except to complain for the sake of complaining and nothing more, which is rather pointless and unfortunately happens all too often.

I can and do accept it all just fine. On the other hand you are almost always in the position criticizing the littlest most inconsequential things simply because they changed. If there's really anything to know when it comes to the internet and software is that change is constant. To be surprised by it or really upset about essentially any change won't change that and will only cause unnecessary aggravation way too often. There are some changes that might be more drastic than others, sure, although there's not much that can be done about them either in most cases. But then there are way more smaller changes that are just simply not worth worrying and exaggerating about. Why is it that you are consistently in the position of being of the one person who is trying to contest any criticism of the iPhone or its software? Just accept that these companies are capable of making bad decisions, and many of them have consistently and it's very annoying and unneccessary.

Yes, hideous.
As many have already said, this just looks ugly. But of course, this isn't the first time Facebook has changed something and had an outbreak of "OMG CHANGE IT BACK!" as the response. 9 times out of 10 we just get used to it and then hate the next iteration. And so it goes and so it goes...

It's there in the latest version for me, but as many other things it can be a per user/account type of thing so it might be different for various other people.Have you updated to the latest version? Wondering if they switched it back.
