What do you think of the new iPad Pro?

i picked up my iPad Pro 12.9" 512GB yesterday and even tho i got the same colour (gold) as i got with the first generation i have already noticed a number of different things between them.

1. The screen brightness is much better i don't even need to have it at 50% for it to be bright enough.
2. Pro-motion is definitely noticeable, scrolling is so smooth
3. It is REALLY fast when doing work within apps like Affinity Photo
4. True Tone is also a great feature that i think works really well especially when lighting changes around you
5. I'm so glad Apple added 512GB storage option to the iPad Pro.
6. it works really well with Apple Pencil and i thought the first gen was great, this is even better!

Overall I'm impressed with the upgrade from the first generation iPad Pro so far but what do you think about the new iPad Pro? did you upgrade from the first gen or are completely new to the iPad Pro experience, is it now a laptop replacement for you? i'd love to here everyone's thoughts

I spent all day yesterday trying to find a 12.9" Pro in stock anywhere near me. I eventually settled on ordering from Apple and waiting a week. My wife has an iPad Air 2 which I also use but I had been waiting for an update to the 12.9" Pro before diving in.

I've used it a fair bit and the awesome thing for me is the movie watching experience. It's a whole other level for an iPad, the screen and speakers are amazing. I have a touchbar MacBook Pro and the speakers on that are amazing. To have a similar experience in an iPad is brilliant, we will be using it for a lot of movies. I'm interested to compare the computing experience between the 12.9" Pro and the MacBook. My wife upgraded to a MacBook last week and I've been using it a lot. Unfortunately an iPad Pro isn't feasible as a laptop replacement due to our work but I do hope in iOS 11 or 12 that it could be.

Edit: I forgot to say, 256GB at the same price point as last years 128GB is amazing value. We have a huge iTunes library and fly a lot, it seems like the perfect travel machine for us. I'll update with more impressions when mine arrives at the end of the week.

Don't think I ever saw someone outside an apple forum who thought movie watching with 4:3 aspect ratio was nice. But I agree that movie watching could be great with a slightly less square aspect ratio.

The speakers on the iPad Pro are a much bigger deal than the aspect ratio for me. I've never been bothered by the aspect ratio. I have a huge TV for serious movie watching. Watching on an iPad is a whole different ball game, I want to watch a movie or tv show in bed, on the train, on a plane etc. I travel a ton and it will be excellent to have the 13" Pro on a plane and in a AirBnb. It doesn't need to be the perfect movie experience, it's still just a 13" screen after all. The 256GB, speaker set up and display quality are all much more important in my opinion.

I haven't thought about the aspect ratio as an issue before but I will say that I don't think I would want a 13" iPad Pro to have the same aspect ratio as my 6S Plus. I imagine it will be unwieldy.

I had an older iPad and moving up from a 2nd gen mini to the 10.5 IPP and its been a great experience so far. I'm blown away by the speakers, the sound coming from it, is great. The display is gorgeous, and the performance is fast - especially since I was so used to the pokey performance of my old Mini

Not missing my macbook at all and love my 12.9 pro to watch things in bed or what not at home. Works perfectly for everything.

I thought about getting the 10.5 as well but feel the screen size will be too small to what I';m used to now. I can still take this out and about with me.

Love drawing on it. That's what I bought it for; everything else isn't as engaging as it was initially. I do not take it out of the house, so the little bit of typing or movie clip viewing I do beyond drawing isn't as wow as I initially thought.

That's perfectly fine, as it helps me create and for me that's worth everything.

I think there was enough incremental features with the new iPads that really set it apart from previous models. The reduced Pencil latency to 20ms due to Promotion display, the camera upgrade from the iPhone 7 with the flash, wider color gamut, increased 600 Nits of brightness and Tru-Tone added to the 10.5 model, and we all know how good the speakers are. All worthy features that everyone will appreciate differently.

I like mine for content consumption, but for drawing or content creation i don't like it much. battery is always out on the pencil and its just not in the same league as my samsung galaxy book with S-pen. this charging solution is just annoying. last thing i want is another device to charge. or have to wait a few seconds for a few mins of drawing time.

other than that its a great tablet on all other levels. i love the size of the 12.9. battery life is the best. screen is premium. good speed. love the speakers.

Have a 12.9 with Smart Keybaord and Pencil - replaced and older dying iPad 4. Testing it out as a laptop replacement.
At the moment while a decent item, it looks like it will end up being the family "common use iDevice".

Overall not bad. As an iPad.

I waited for the 2nd gen and then bought it. I wanted it mostly for drawing, making electronic music, and for mobile writing (I prefer the Air 2 for couch browsing), but wasn't convinced by the first gen model. I actually thought the second gen would come out much sooner than this June, so it was a long wait. Worth it, though! It pretty much replaces a laptop for me, but not a full computer. I have a beefy desktop for tasks that require a large screen and processing power.

Wow I just pickup a 10.5" iPad Pro 256 wifi+lte (upgraded from an iPad Air 1), this thing's 120hz Refresh rate is sooo smooth. Given I am comparing to a 3+ year old iPad Air 16GB, the extra screen size doesn't add noticeable weight, and the size is goldilocks perfect. Seriously the high tech fused display is ridiculously good. 256GB is a huge upgrade value. I read this graphics beast outperforms the 12.9" iPad Pro Gen 1.

I think the iPad Pro 10.5 is definitely a fantastic tablet and the best iPad available today especially the very very ridiculously powerful A10X chip and that 120Hz ProMotion technology in the screen/display and more and judging by the reviews and users it is is a beast of a tablet.

But since I have a iPad Air 2 which I owned for nearly 2 years now and still in very good condition and runs very well and the battery life is still fantastic and the things that I use it for are really pretty casual like web browsing, video watching and playing games, and set it and the iPad Air 2 is still very powerful and fast enough and still great for those type of things that I use my iPad Air 2 for.

I would love to upgrade to the new iPad Pro 10.5 but at the moment and I am definitely very happy with using my iPad Air 2 for another year or 2 before upgrading to a way newer and much more better iPad Pro 10.5 model in the future.

I was using an Air 2, mostly for browsing and writing, but happened across the 10.5" at Best Buy. I touched the screen several times and was so impressed by the ProMotion tech that I bought it. Haven't been disappointed since, though I need to wait so I can afford a keyboard and an Apple Pencil.

My new iPad (12.9 512) arrived today. This thing is amazing, my old iPad seems so small now.

The screen and the speakers are the first thing I noticed (obviously) and I love the new sound, I don't think I'll be using my Bluetooth speaker as much now.

Size wise I don't find it cumbersome at all, or heavy.

It does look huge when next to the 9.7 but when using it, for me at least, i can really appreciate the extra screen size.

I was originally going to buy the 10.5, but after careful consideration, taking into account iOS 11, I'm glad I got the bigger size. And to be honest, after using it for a day, I don't think I'd like going back to the ittybitty 9.7/10.5 .... they are so small , so tiny

My upgrade path was iPad 2-->iPad 3 (new iPad with retina)-->iPad Air 1-->iPad mini 3-->iPad Pro 9.7"-->iPad Pro 10.5".

I have always been kind of enamored with iPad. In fact, I wanted an iPad before I ever wanted an iPhone. The iPad has always been the device I want to reach for first, and seemed like the futuristic computer I dreamed about owning since I was a kid.

The problem I always had with iPads though, was that I could NEVER find a Bluetooth keyboard that I could live with to pair up with them. I tried quite a few with my iPad Air during my first experiment with making the iPad my main computer, and I just couldn't get anything to work out very well for me. When the iPad Pro 9.7" came out, it was closer than I had ever gotten, but the keyboard was slightly too cramped for me to type on it for extended periods of time without my hands getting tired.

So I'm elated with the iPad Pro 10.5". The size increase made a big difference on both the physical Apple Smart Keyboard and for onscreen typing. In fact, I NEVER used the onscreen iPad keyboard regularly until the 10.5" came out--now I use it all the time when I don't feel like unfolding the ASK. And of course having a bigger screen as a result doesn't hurt either. I was thrilled with the iOS 11 announcement, and had convinced myself I was not upgrading from the 9.7" model, but I just couldn't help myself.

There have been a few highlight iPad upgrades I've done over the years--the iPad 3 (first with retina), the iPad Air (awesome redesign), and now both of the iPad Pro models I've owned just because of how awesome and capable the hardware and peripherals are. I'm a happy camper.
