I used Word 2011 every day for months and it was very hit and miss for me.

There were times when it would run for hours without problems, and then it would not run without problems and the need for formatting workarounds.

I have tried Think Free Office as a trial and found it awesome. I switched and never looked back. http://office.thinkfree.com/en/index.html

My thought is that it looks like a chinese ripoff of microsoft office and I hope they get sued. Word 2011 has worked just fine for me, although my reason for using it over another word processor is just because it is what is used where I work.

If I'm not going to use the "real thing" I'd just as soon use a free alternative (libreoffice or openoffice.org) rather than paying $50. As it turns out I've got the "real thing" when I have to be 100% compatible, have Libre/Open office for handling open document format, and use iWork for just about everything that doesn't have to be shared in source form.
