I feel the next 10 years should be Roman numerals and proceed to the XI (11) :)
 
Its a high probability It will be labeled the iPhone 11. The numbering scheme is extremely important to the iPhone and has been traditional for it to continue. It also shows how the older iPhones are superseded by the newest device with the highest number.

That will work for the plus variant, but keep in mind that there are two other iPhones expected to launch with the Plus variant. How about the regular size (5.8') new/updated iPhone X, releasing in 2018 and the 6.1' LCD version.

No chance. The iPhone X sales haven't been doing too great. Giving the new one the same name will not help sales as people will just assume it is the same X as the 2017 version
 
I think once they get rid of the notch in a few years they should just call that model iPhone since it would be Apple reaching its ultimate vision.

For now maybe they’ll do what they do with Mac OS X and just call it iPhone X Panda or something... Seems stupid on second though.
 
Doesn’t matter what it’s called. Nowhere on my iPhone does it say “X”. I never understood these threads about the naming of a phone.
Is the name going to make you buy it or keep you from buying it? I would imagine most people buy based on features and price.
Are you thinking about the name of your phone while you’re using it? Doubtful.
I like Apple’s stuff but am not that wrapped up into caring what they call anything.

We have articles on MR about Apple's marketing campaigns. Do they alter in any way our experience with the products we're using? No but they are still fun to discuss, for some people.
 
I think it will be iPhone Xs, since we got all new models last year, so really we are on a "S" cycle. However, obviously Apple switched things up last year and ditched the iPhone 7s in favor of the iPhone 8.

So I am thinking, iPhone Xs, iPhone 8s, iPhone 8s Plus. But obviously, known of us know! Just my guess.

I would keep it short and sweet: iPhone (insert screen size, 2018). The numbers and the pros are ridiculous.
 
not a marketing pro, but I think simplicity will continue: fewest word symbols to ID product in mass advertising.

We all learned, thus now know, what differentiates the iPhone X from the 8 or the 6s: 1-2 letters and + sometimes = “latest iPhone”.

That’s all people need ultimately.

Would be too cluttered to always have to say “iPhone X 5.8 2018”, etc.
