I think we're seeing apple transition into more services and that trend will continue. I think they're early foray into services has not been that successful, outside of apple music, so it seems a bit of a learning curve for them
I wish they'd get into robotic assistants, especially for the elderly or infirm.
There's a huge age bubble right now and lots of financially well off people are going to need assistance.
Besides, I don't want to just say, "Siri order some food." I want something that'll make it and bring it to me

Given the apparent difficulty they have in keeping their present product roster current (years between updates anyone?)---with the exception of the iPhone, of course, Apple's Holy Grail---I think that the last thing Apple is equipped to handle is a new product category.
Entering a category is NOT the same as owning it. One could probably spout out dozens of categories that Apple could enter, but that's less important than mastery.
The one category that is the most obvious which you didn't list is television, the most heavily used entertainment appliance in the world.
Yes, there is Apple TV, but clearly Apple does not think of the current offering as a real solution. They refer to it as a "hobby." I realize the original post here was written in 2015, but Apple was already had an Apple TV product.
Television is really the 800 pound gorilla in the room. I own a 3rd generation Apple TV as well as a Roku. I have friends/colleagues with a wide variety of competitors' TV solutions and clearly there is no winner.

My guess is banking. If you think about it, it perfectly aligns with their present strategy. They could take the maximum amount of consumer money without having to do absolutely anything. Cut out the need for hardware or software and go straight for the monies in your wallet. It's a revolution in banking. Amazing. Wonderful.

Personally the current crop of u buy apps and download/pay for separate subscription seems much better idea, then a "bundled" one because u suddenly start out that way, but won't be long till u find yourself acting as a cable provider (offering all the choices under the rainbow, and charging more for them, no one even asked.)
Keep it separate, and give users a choice.. that's my stance going forward. Either u get them on board, or u don't whichever way u look at it.

They certainly touched on some of the points from the Gartner's Hype Cycle in todays WWDC i.e. connected home, machine learning, augmented reality etc although it turns out they are turning out speakers next with Siri integration!
Of course VR is coming in different ways,and Apple will sure include more services,like the ones we already seen. When it comes to major hardware,self-driving cars,and maybe an Apple DSLR camera,compatible with idevices and macOS could be something. Wearable health equipment is most likely coming,like glucose meters,fever thermometer and other things I just cannot imagine right now.
