I created a site a year ago for a relative and his kart racing. I just did a redesign of the page. This time I decided to take a Rapidweaver template and spend time customizing it. I think it came out well. I also decided to use the forum software to feed site content. That way the relatives can add content on their own. For example the events page grabs its info from the forum calendar. The sponsors page grabs user data from the forum as well. The original version had threads that fed the home page articles. This version removes that capability, and turns it over to the RW blog page instead.

Its not fully finished yet...but....What do you think? Suggestions?

I think that site looks good. It's simple, easy to read, follows well with design. I'll be honest I don't know a thing about what's on it so I wouldn't visit it a lot. What's your demographics? From what it looked like, it looks sports like, kart racing like, not way advanced, but more simplistic. I like it.

I like it, it's nice. Just a sugguestion though, is to take the main content and justifty it instead of centering it...I think it'll look better. just an idea though

OK, I know nothing about web design, and stumbled across this thread purely by accident, so my opinion is merely that of a lay-person.

However, I think there's something unbalanced about the left column of the website (where the buttons are) that brought my eye directly to it. I don't know if its because the text on the buttoms is aligned left, when everything else in the column (and, it seems, the rest of the page) is centred. Or it might be because that part of the page is black, when the rest of the column (and page) is blue.

Apart from the buttons, it looks like a perfectly good website :) . Like I say, I know nothing, and its probably best to just ignore my comments

well it's not gonna win any design awards, but it's certainly far from the worse I've seen. I'd say it's an adequate website, nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks for all the comments. It is still a bit of a work in progress since the switch. But I will try out the justify instead and see how it looks.

My challenge with with this site is making the capability to allow the relatives who know nothing about the web and photo editing to be able to add articles on the front page on their own. For now I will have to do that on my own exchanging e-mail with them, etc. My main idea with changing to RW for them is they usually change things every so often, plus its not like im getting paid.. So RW will let me make large scale changes without having to recreate menus etc from scratch every time.

Again thanks for all the comments and suggestions. If you guys have any more suggestions please let me know!!! :D

Hmm.. all I know is.. I wish I had the money to race go-karts.. That would be absolutely amazing.

I have never seen it in person. They tell me these kids get to some pretty high speeds. I also hear ya on the money thing. Hopefully he will get a couple sponsors one day. I've been pretty much the only individual sponsor (plus the website).

I may take a road trip up there and check it out one day.
