I just fully switched over from a PC to a IntelliMac Core Duo 2.0GHz and I love the thing. But now I dont find myself doing anything except using iTunes, chatting and surfing the Internet.

I guess I dont have alot of time to be creative, but I know Mac's do this best. Video, Audio etc etc etc...!! so what do you use your Mac's for? I am just trying to get some Ideas here!

Thanks

Did you do more on your PC?

I use my..

.. iBook for chatting, Internet, email, listening to podcasts, docs, day to day stuff... portable DVD player on trips, like a handy notebook should be used. :)

.. iMac is the house music server (iTunes>Slimserver>Slimdevice), iPhoto server, Video editing machine (learning the ropes of FC-Studio), website stuff and a few other bitz n' pieces.

I have also just come over from the darkside.

For play:
- I have been screawing around with the system trying to learn it.
- Play World of Warcraft, holy crap it plays better then my old Dell laptop

For work:
Well, besides normal replying to emails all day. I spend most of my time SSH'd into a machine, or working over VNC. The rest of the time I spend in Komodo churning out PHP code. I am still working on getting my development enviroment setup, I guess it will be a few more days before I actually test the code locally instead of my Linux server.

Part of the issue switchers suffer from is a sudden increase in free computing time. Now you need new purpose to fill those computing hours you used to devote to cleaning your systems of viruses, malware, and spyware, not to mention re-installing your OS.
I fill most of that time by surfing MR for hours on end, just like mad jew.;)

Come to MacRumors to see what iGary is bitching about today/what happened to him today. My life is pretty boring these days, all I do is work and argue about it with the girlfriend.

Oh yeah, and porn.

I'm a dork I bought it because it was the nicest UNIX desktop I've ever seen. I stayed with it because of the amazing amount of great open source, shareware, and commercial apps. What do I use it for? My Power Mac G5 is my video recorder, I stream media to my hi-fi and hdtv from it, I use iLife 06, I love safari, I chat to my mates with MSN, and there is a heap of other stuff I do daily with those amazing open source, shareware, and commercial apps

Well of course there's always first and foremost, the porn, but I also use my Powerbook for the regular stuff (internet, music, photo's) and Photoshop CS. I'm planning on taking a few courses next year so this will be a school machine as well. I have an iBook I use in the living room as a dvd player/stereo/photo viewer-in other words just making use of an old Mac.

Same as everyone else:

Firefox - MR, pictures and movies, online banking
iTunes
Dreamweaver
Adium
Entourage for email, calendar, contacts
MS Office for school, church, other projects

I like the part about having more time not having to reinstall an OS every couple of weeks or so. Or having to download some new patch every day or so.

I have a couple, but I basically use my macs for everything computer related I do:

Audio recording/mixing
Video editing/conversion/compression
Web design
Print Design
Duplication
Office work/bookkeeping
Email/web browsing
Watching movies
Faxing documents
Alarms/calendar/etc.

I swear to Christ, if my G4 could make coffee I'd friggin marry it.

Exactly the same reason I came to it, way back when I bought my G3 500 "Dual USB" iBook. Sadly, it's been a few years since I was a daily Mac user, since the iBook had to be retired (turned over to the wife) when it became too slow to do what I needed it to do. I'm thrilled to be back, and loving my new MBP.
