Heres my list:

Flash,
Search in mail,
3rd party push ability
copy+paste

Realistically,
search in mail
either copy+paste or 3rd party push(or just the search in mail =])

Since Apple will never add anything we ask for, I hope we get a revamped updated Calculator. :p

I want my iPhone to become even more technologically behind other cellphones - I want a stylus!

Simple:

  • Revamped Home Screen with better usability for several dozen apps.
  • Revamped Mail app with search, unified inbox, and wildly better stability & general usability
  • The push technology originally demoed for inclusion in 2.2.

Id like a file system for apps, to organize them in categories.

possibly one that automatically can reorder them on the homescreen to sort by either date downloaded, or alphabetically. that would rock big.

is it against apple's agreement for developers to make this sort of app?

I believe so. They can only play in their own little 'sandbox' of file-space, I believe the most they can do in the way of affecting the homescreen is changing their own icon (i.e., adding the bubble showing a number of messages waiting, tasks to be done, etc.). Anything on the order or reordering the homescreen would involve access to parts of the filesystem that they're quite certainly not allowed to modify.

You guys know that you can reorder apps on your home screen (or any screen for that matter) by placing your finger on the app until it jiggles, then dragging them around wherever, right?

Ability to create folders in Gallery on the iPhone itself (not through iTunes), copy and paste (so I can make new contacts easily when someone sends me an SMS with someone's number), and MMS.. Video would be nice too.

yeah, but an app to be able to arrange it automatically for my lazy ass would be better.

A native fart app? just kidding

This is the app store section so I will stick to app store issues.

As a developer what I really want is to get rid of the rate on delete feature. It is unfair and skews app ratings. If they keep that feature they need to average in every user who does not delete apps as a 5 star.
The ability to see more than 100 apps in each section. What is the big deal? Just let me hit 25 more so that I can get to 200 if i want!

not that either is even remotely likely but background tasks an/or push alerts. i prefer background tasks -- maybe full background processes but some daemon that one can register a short snippet of code with to do things like trigger alerts/alarms without needing to run a separate server. that would be ideal for our BillMinder application.

My thoughts were something more like a folder hierarchy... Like a "Games" icon, and when you click it, it opens a new window with 9 possible pages of games apps. Something like that would be great.

A profiles app would be great too, to turn on bluetooth and wifi easily to save on battery

That would rock. "Games" "Utilities" so on... great idea!

Playing catch up.

How about playing catch up to the Palm Pre? I doubt it since copy/paste and push cannot even get out the door.

We'll just have to wait and see how much catch-up Apple is willing to play. Apple seems very arrogant lately in determining what the customer should be allowed to have. The only way I see this changing Apple's strategy is if iPhone sales dip.
