iPod What does a beeping ipod mean?

MY ipod battery went flat so I just plugged it into my ibook (with no earphones in) and it started beeping. around 5 times it beeped. then the indicator saying it needed to be charged came.

what does this beeping mean?

I used to get beeps...
What kind of iPod are you using?
I got them when i plugged my 3rd gen 40gb into the dock, or to a car charger. For the first few months of owning my photo, i was getting the faintest of beeps when i plugged it into the dock.... but not anymore. It's strange, i have no idea what it signifies.

my 3rd generation ipod beeps when i plug it into the dock/cable, i think it means that u connected something to it...

it is a first generation ipod mini silver

I have plugged my ipod in 100s of times so doubt it is because of that
