Again i'm having some issues with my Contacts file. When I use a labeling app like Labels & Addresses, I can select a smart group in my Contacts list. The SG filters by certain rules but when I do this. the labeling app displays two entries for each contact. I assume this is because I have iCloud sync set up. When i did the iCloud setup, Contacts created and iCloud section and below is a group called All (null). When I select "All Contacts," only one entry per contact shows up. If I try to delete cards listed in All (null), the option is grayed out.

I tried using Contact Cleaner to delete duplicates but they just kept reappearing after a rescan.

The uploaded screen grab shows my predicament.

Any ideas on how to eliminate duplicates that show up on scans?

thank you.

In general null means no value, zero, or none.

Thanks. I realize that you're trying to help and thought that perhaps I wasn't aware of that, which I am. In this context, though, having a file containing contact data named "null" doesn't quite make sense, to me at least. Here is another screen grab that shows the "null" entry in a valid contact vCard.

Have you tried looking for duplicates via your contacts app? Go to Card>Look for Duplicates. It should eliminate any duplicate entries you might have

Thanks for the advice. I hadn't seen that option. However, performing that doesn't reveal any duplicates. I suspect that has to do with whatever causes cards stored locally to be identified as All (null), and why they can't be deleted.

Actually at this point i'd like to find the location of the Contacts database so I can just trash it and start everything over from scratch.
