For the last while I've been using my Mini paired with a couple of HomePod Minis, but I was interested to see what the internal speakers are like on the new iMac. I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised. There's good definition across the range, decent bass and they sound pretty good for an all-in-one machine like this.

Switching back to the Minis mid-track, they sound way more bassy, but in quite a "muddy" way compared to the iMac ones.

What speakers are you going to use with yours? ?

The speakers in the new iMac are decent and they sound pretty good. My only gripe with them is they don't get as loud as I would like. That being said this computer is insanely thin so to even get the sound out of it that they do is amazing.

That being said though I will most likely use my AirPods Max 90% of the time

I find max volume unbearably loud, I feel like everyone who says this is going to go deaf by the time they're 40 lol. I listen at not even half volume. Astronomically louder than my late-2015 27" iMac

I gotta admit I do like to listen to music and movies louder then normal. However I am currently using the built in speakers and have them turned up almost all the way while watching a twitch stream and they are barely louder then the in window air conditioner I have currently running.

I'm listening to music tonight using the iMac speakers and I think it sounds pretty good. I honestly airplay my music to my stereo HomePods in my room when it isn't late at night though.

They sound great for intended use. Hard to judge if better than home pod mini. Will give both a better listen tomorrow

The built in speakers are a far cry better than the Intel iMacs I have had since 2004.

For what I listen to, my M1 iMac will connect to a USB-DAC into a 3 speaker Klipsch subwoofer system for super immersive video streaming movies at super high speeds:

They’re ok, but not nearly as good as the advertising had me believe. They’re fine for what are pretty much laptop speakers. Homepods are way better through.

False advertising?!

That video made me laugh!

In a world of 'influencers', everyone needs an opinion. And much like anything else, the more overstated and exaggerated the opinion, the more notice it gets. Mr. 'Top-5-issues' gets more hits. Big Whoop.

The speakers are a bit less voluminous than they could be, though Apple has been limiting sound levels in devices for many years. But they are excellent quality, and rather better than the speakers in my 27-inch - which do go louder, but do so at the cost of relatively higher levels of distortion.
