Hey guys, I let my gf's iPhone 2g backup for the first time to her new macbook pro without checking anything in iTunes, just default stuff, and then proceeded to jailbreak and unlock to 3.0 firmware. All went well and now all her contacts calendar etc are gone. Does iTunes backup all that stuff to the address book on the Mac without you going in and specifically ask it to do it like in windows to WAB? Is there any chance I could recover the contacts at least? I did restore from backup and all is the same. Thanks in advance.

IIRC contacts are backed up automatically. Pics are the only thing I'm not sure about, and I know that media isn't. I've recovered contacts before and I don't recall ever setting anything up.

So how do I go about it?

Contacts and calendars should be synced with her email or computer through iTunes. Backups only contain settings, call log, notes, camera roll, txt messages, app data.
