I'm giving Lightroom a chance now as I've found out you can manage your folders from within the program (I didn't spend that much time with it last time  ) and I'm wondering what it means when my library says "All Photographs XXX/XXX"

How come it says x photo's / y photo's?

I keep meaning to try Lightroom myself, but i haven't yet. But i could guess that if XXX/XXX is a number, that they refer to the number of pics that you have imported. i.e. 'all photographs 78/78' or 'previous import 18/78' or something.

This is correct. If you are working on image 13 out of 130 it would look like 13/130 and so on.
