what does restoring actualy delete?

I know this has probobly been discussed a thousand times, but what exactly is reset when a restor is preformed (I have a jailbroken ipod touch 2.1)?

I have files such as gameboy saves, videos, ect. on it. does it just delete the apps or does it delete everything?

I DO have a way of getting my files off, but it is tedious to do because it's messed up right now and keeps on restarting over and over. I can't transfer a lot at a time as a result.

A factory reset wipes out anything on the System and usr partiitons, but leaves the baseband intact. That is why, I believe, flashing the baseband is such a permanent thing to do.

mind repeating that in English please? what is the baseband? what does it mean to flash it? will it delete my roms, save files, and the stuff in my downloads folder or do I have to transfer that off.

When you restore, you write over everything added since the last time the phone was restored or upgraded to new firmware.

So if it wasn't there when you restored or upgraded, it gets written over, thus IT IS GONE !

In plain english, everything YOU ADDED that wasn't part of the original firmware, gets written over.
