What does "stores accepting applications" mean?

I'm pretty sure somebody has asked this before.. or not but nothing came out of the search engine here so i'm just gonna ask.
I want to apply to be an inventory specialist at a nearby apple store. (which is still 20 miles away.. gas -.-)
But it was not under the current openings category but accepting applications.
What should I expect upon submission of my application?
Will they respond to me at all?

And do you guys think I stand a chance?
I'm a college student 19 years old girl (if that matters..)
I have volunteered at our county library for a year with intensive inventory work. Don't belittle volunteer I really got some valuable experiences there.
I have worked at a big chain retail clothing store for 5 months, specialized in stockroom work such as replenish, restocking, receiving shipments, stockroom organization, and perhaps most importantly, seasonal updates of the store. I have also worked in the front, greeting and stuff.

Despite of the fact that they dont have a current opening, do you guys think they will hire me? I'm a very outgoing person and I really do work hard in all the jobs I have had.

They're always hiring. All overflow candidates get put in what's called the "pipeline". I was in this pipeline for about 5 months before I finally got an offer which I should be receiving tomorrow. Just remember, they're looking for an awesome person (which shouldn't be a problem for you. ).

AHH five months? I'm a broke college student I really wanna pick up a job ASAP
What position did you apply? Did you have a lot of experience in retail?

I doubt you'll get a job "ASAP" at the Apple store. Regardless of your qualifications, from countless threads on this site (search), it sounds like they tend to have multiple interviews - regardless of how informal they may or may not be. Heck, before that, you have to figure they get a sizable amount of resumes they have to go through first.

Retail, for the most part, is retail. If you need money, any other retail job will do. They'll all pay about the same. Granted, your love for Apple might make the boring work environment more exciting at Apple, but you have to figure out your priorities.

I bet you can find a job quicker and easier at any other - and closer - retail opportunity or, better yet, on campus. Especially if you have Federal Work Study, since there are typically certain jobs set aside just for those with FWS (and you can apply to ones that don't care either way). The pay will be as much or better than retail in a better environment with the ability to connect with university staff (a connection is the only way you'd get a job at a university when you graduate at 22).

I am aware of the fact that I'm gonna have wait on this.
So, I dont qualify for work study, so what's opened to a freshman like me in my college is really limited and I have applied to as many as I can, library, tutor, etc.. None of them as responded yet.
Outside of the school, since I have a car I can drive there and it's about 8 miles away, I found out there's a big mall, I literally went store by store asking if they were hiring, I was either turned down with my application, or they just simply weren't hiring.
I knew the Apple store that I applied to was accepting apps since a month ago, but I didn't apply till this week cuz I just really cant find a job any elsewhere.

Well, that's a bit off topic but yeah thank you for your reply. Sadly, nothing has worked out for me so far. I'm just gonna have to wait, either apple or any of the other unresponsive ones actually call me back.

Collectively, I've spent a total of 167 days in the interview process. I got offered a Specialist position starting on October 20th with a $15/hr pay rate. This would be my first retail experience. Well worth it in my opinion.

If it helps, I'm only 17. You being 19, I'm sure you have enough experience to land an interview very soon. Maybe I'll put in a reference for you after I have access to those types of things. I make my Apple Connect (Apple internal ID) this coming Thursday so I'll let you know!

I assessed all the positions Apple has for Retail, and I think inventory suits me the best because I had so much experiences in the field.
Yes, I have thought of just being a specialist on their products, but I'm only so familiar with the iOS products. In fact, I just got my first macbook last week, so yeah I didn't think I was knowledgeable enough to be a specialist since I'm pretty sure they want you to be all-rounded with their products.

And are you implying that inventory specialist is a higher level job amongst the others?
