What does the legit €999 Unlocked Iphone mean for Unlockers?

Surely this is good news for people waiting to be able to unlock their 1.1.2 iphones with the 4.6 bootloader?

1. It means that a firmware revision resistant unlock is possible.
2. People are bound to donate one of these to the iphone dev guys to do their magic ramming and flashing and recompiling stuff with. Which will doubtlessly speed up the hacking of that pesky new 4.6 peskyness thing..
3. Failing that, some disgruntled T-mobile employee is bound to leak the method they are using to unlock them to the internet at some point...

Good news but still allot of work to be done?

True now that Apple has to have software that works with the legit unlocked versions of the iPhone going on sale, hackers will have a field day! no more locked iPhones for all!

maybe macrumors should start a 'reward' fund for the first T-Mobile employee to accidentally leak the unlock method..?!?! (obviously I in no way condone industrial espionage/bribery..)

Lol. Bootloader 4.6 could go so far without being jailbroken and unlocked....I feel sorry for Apple technicians who have to work day/night to break the wonderful jailbreaks and unlocks the iPhone Dev Team, Conciented Software, Nullriver, iPhone SimFree do all the time.

Wouldn't it be much easier for everyone (INCLUDING APPLE) if they just unlock the iPhone once and for all.

Yeah, it's going to become ridiculous as Apple tries to expand throughout Europe and Asia - there will be constant legal issues, bad press and challenges to the way it's trying to do business. It would be so much better if they could just free the damn phone once and for all and make up whatever difference by sheer volume!

T-Mobile is not going to have any unlock tools. Reports said it might be done through iTunes, and it's probably specific to each phone. Time will tell....

The unlocking process at the moment is way to complicated to 98% of the consumers so hopefully it is exclusive enough that people will stay away from it and apple does not panic to much. Heck if I explain the process to anyone else who has some computer knowledge, their heads spin.
