This year’s going to be a light one for me when it comes to upgrades. I don’t upgrade every year—only when a want turns into a need. That’s just how I approach it, though I know it’s different for everyone.

Here’s how my 2025 is shaping up so far:

  • iPhone 13 mini → iPhone 17 Pro (or maybe just the 17, depending on what’s offered)
  • Apple Watch Series 8 → Series 11 (assuming there's meaningful new tech)
  • AirPods Pro 2 → AirPods Pro 3 (still waiting to see if they’re actually coming this September)

As for my MacBook Pro, I’ve decided to hold onto my M1 Pro for one more year. There are rumors of a major redesign in 2026, so I’m holding out for that.

I purchased the M4 iPad Pro and S10 Apple Watch last year.

This year, am looking at the iphone 17 pro max and AirPods Pro 3 at least. Also bought the Nintendo switch 2 earlier. Was initially on the fence about the M4 MBA, but ultimately decided to stick with my M1 laptop as it was still going strong.

I am always in the market for a new Apple TV (when it gets refreshed). One of the 2013 ATV I am using in school just starting failing, so I dug out an older Apple TV to replace it - I think it’s the 1st gen 4K model). Release an upgraded model and I will have the 2nd gen (2021 model) to serve as a backup when necessary.

Possibly AirPods Pro 3 and an Apple Watch Series 11, depending on if there is anything worth upgrading for.

I’ve got from a 2016 MacBook Pro to the M4 model earlier this year. Otherwise, looking into replacing my very old iPad Air 2, since I’d like to use it for art and some appstore games.

I’m interested in the "17 Air," but I just got a new battery in my 14 Pro so I could hold onto it for another 2 years minimum. So very likely not buying anything this year.

My first HomePod mini, if it's updated this year. [Edit: got a tiny BT speaker instead.]

I've updated all my Apple hardware in the last few years. I will trade in my 16 Pro Max for a 17 Pro in September. I'll then get the folding iPhone next year.

The only other upgrade I would love to do is if/when Apple offers a significantly larger screen on the Apple Watch.

if/when Apple offers a significantly larger screen on the Apple Watch.
While I can't imagine the Ultra's screen getting any larger, if a larger flat screen is available when my Ultra dies, I'll get it.

I'm at an age where I don't care if it looks ridiculous if it does its job well. Transition lenses on cycling goggles worn in public when not cycling? No problem.

I'm a former Ultra owner and current S10 user. The screen for sure can get much larger. It doesn't look that big on my wrist, and I'm an adult average sized male.

I don't have any watch currently, so I will be getting the Ultra 3 in September. Keeping my 16 Pro for now, I might upgrade to the 17 Pro Max if there are decent trade-in deals in December or January.

Just 16PM to 17PM. I don’t have a ton of money and life is expensive. I’m upgrading as usual through T-Mobile’s jump offering, where I just pay tax on the new device and send in my current phone.

If the Studio Display 2 is released this year or early next year, that will be an instant purchase for me.

I highly doubt I will upgrade from 16PM to 17PM, but there's always a slim chance. The rumored 8x optical might sway me if true.

Probably one more watch, can't decide between an IWC Pilot Chronograph 41 or Speedmaster white dial.

Upgrading 15PM to 17PM and buying my first MBA this year. I already have a Mini 7 and my M2 12.9 iPad Pro is still working flawlessly for me.

I already made my Apple purchase this year going from M2 Mac Mini to M4 Mac Studio. It looks like M5 MacBook Pros won't be around until 2026.

I will finally be upgrading my 2018 11” iPad Pro and getting one of the M5 iPad Pros when they come out in the Fall. Probably the 13” iPad Pro this time.

This year I bought a MBA M3 15”, 24gb/1tb and an iPad A16 128 gb, both at the BX for significant discounts (I’m retired military). So I’m set for 2025. Both my wife and daughter have MBA M1s, 13”, 8/256; both use them almost daily, and quite heavily, wife for finances and medical stuff, daughter for her marine science PhD program. But as hard as I try, I can’t get either one to upgrade! Today, in fact, the BX has the MBA M4, 13”, 16/256, on sale for $699. Nah, no interest, both are happy with what they currently have. Which I guess says something about that base M1, since it’s still doing the job for them after nearly 5 years. Guess I’ll have to wait a while to scratch the “new computer” itch.

Bought a new 15" MacBook Air(M4), M4 11" iPad Pro and a M4 Mac mini over the last few weeks. Thinking of getting a 17 Pro Max this year.

I’ve already bought a series 10 Apple watch and a 13 inch iPad Air this year.

I would like to get this new HomePod with a screen if it launches and probably will get the new Apple TV. If new AirPods Pro come out this year I’ll get those.

I’m ok to hold onto my 15 pro max, 11 inch iPad Pro M2 and MacBook Air M2 for a while longer. I’m not upgrading any of my HomePods or AirPods Max until they break.

17 ProMax maybe. Just love those transparent icons! They have sold me! 13” M4 iPad and S10 will have to limp along another year as I am not hearing of any improvements.

The iPhone 18 is sounding good.

I'll buy the AirPods Pro 3 if they come out and they're a significant upgrade from the the AirPods Pro 2 or AirPods 4 - otherwise I'll replace my dying AirPods with one of those two.

Not upgrading anything else, can't afford it it and honestly don't need it, all my other hardware is doing fine (although I might get a new small, 2 bay DAS to add more backup and older file storage. )
