Found myself wondering, of those individuals who have MobileMe, what email providers do they use?

I've setup this poll to see just that.

Also, if you use something other then MobileMe, explain how you incorporate your email provider into the Apple iPhone/Mac/MobileMe fold.
 
I have my primary Gmail address forward to MobileMe, which I have set up on my iOS devices. When on my computer, I use the Gmail webmail.

I will mention that I have considered the idea of switching to MobileMe entirely for email, but I'm not sure I like the idea of having to pay for my primary email account. Also, I like to keep my options open in case I don't always use an iPhone. MobileMe isn't exactly platform-agnostic when it comes to its most useful functions for me.
 
there's probably a several threads like this, but it's gmail for me. i use it fetch everything else. i don't think i've ever distribute my mobileme addy to anyone.
 
Isn't this poll gonna be off because its in a mobile me topic. where most people coming to it have mobile me? just my .02
 
I use my MobileMe account for most official business I conduct (banking and such)

I have 3 different Gmail addresses for various reasons
1 for my primary personal email
1 for signing up for things
1 for business

I have my work email (Outlook) configured as well

All can be read on my Mac, my iPhone and iPad

Although MobileMe pricing fits into my lifestyle, workstyle... I would like to see Apple make it free so as to grow the user base. With Evernote, Dropbox, and so many other (not so identical) cloud services for free, it would be a nice touch for Apple to give it away to it's loyal customer base.

I am very happy with Gmail, not so much with Yahoo. As a result I only use Yahoo for regular but not important or critical email traffic. Gmail is my mission critical / important default go to email account(s). MobileMe I use as the conduit between my iPhone and Macs.
 
Was using MobileMe for a while, switched to Gmail. Too many problems with it, the latest was SMTP timeouts. grrr....
 
I have a gmail account (along with MobileMe, a school account, and a work account). All four are on my phone and Mail.

To answer the second part of your question, I really don't use my MobileMe account for anything. I'm uncertain as to how long I'll keep it, which makes me weary of using it for anything important for the long term. I do make use of MobileMe in other ways though, so the email address almost exists as a forgotten sibling. :/
 
I use my personal domain, forwarded to the me.com address. Macbook and iPhone are both setup with me.com so it pushes email and syncs on both machines.

I'm also using MobileMe as you are. Although I can afford it, there's a certain distaste I have for such a premium being charged for what I think should be free. Or at least priced more appropriately, around $25 a year sounds much better.
 
I keep a fistful of emails: some gmail, most personal domains, 1 live, and 1 mobileme .

gmail is what I use for everyday things
live is what i use for fb spam
personal domains is what i use for subject specific things related to those domains
mobileme i just use for general apple related things
 
I was never aware how popular Gmail was among the Mac crowd. I guess it really is a good service.
 
I use Fastmail.fm

I love having a short email address. With fastmail and the number of domains they have available to choose from, it's really easy to get a short address.

My current email is xxx@mm.st, which I think is just the right level of shortness.

I ran my own mail server for a while, so I had x@xx.xx, but that was way too time consuming, and it was taking resources away from the web server running on the same hardware.

As for Mac compatibility, I use Nuevasync to supply an Exchange system for it, so it stays synced between all my devices.

How's your spam level? I've always heard the shorter the email, the easier for those random generating spambots.
 
Well, spam has never been an issue for me. I have my primary email address, which is xyz@mm.st, but I have an alias zyx@mm.st; that's what I give out to everyone.

Also, whenever I sign up for a new service, I make an alias xyz.service@mm.st.

Call me OCD, but this is how I combat spam: Make disposable aliases for non-continuous communication and use them until they attract spam, and then replace. Make unique aliases for every service I sign up for so I can easily determine which service originated the spam.

All in all, though, I've had my three character email address for 6 months now, and haven't had any spam yet.
 
I have 5 email accounts:
Mobile me: primary email, use for facebook and web forums and personal email.
Gmail: email for web forums and general spam email I sign up for but don't really care about.
Yahoo: same use as gmail
Msn/ hotmail: instant messaging and same as Yahoo and Gmail
School email: school related things
 
Although Google offer a decent Exchange server for mobile devices, I do not have it installed on anything.

However, I use the Google Mail Web interface to poll various non-Exchange email addresses and forward them to my MobileMe account for replication on my various devices...and this works very well.

I use various rules filters at MobileMe and Google to route the content to various folders created at MobileMe, or to Spam folder at Google.

It might sound a little complicated if I explained it fully, but it works very well. Both Google and Apple seem to have very effective and useful mail and Exchange servers.
