What equalizer setting do you use in iTunes?

i use to have all songs from a genre set to the iTunes supplied EQ... (rock music set to the rock equalizer, hip hop set to hip hop)

then i quit doing that and turned the EQ off all together for a while

now i'm just using this single setting for all genres of music

what do you guys use and has worked for you?
 
I did used to have some manual setting that I kept my EQ at, but I always seem to go back to turning off the EQ. I figure it's probably better to hear the music how it was recorded and meant to be heard.
 
Mine is always on Hip-Hop. It is my most listened to genre and I find that it still sounds good with other types of music. I like having a lot of bass in my music.
 
Honestly I don't remember when I set my EQ but for kicks I just turned it off to hear what its like without my manual setup, and I have to say it sure sounded flat, so back to my manual setup. ;)

Good thought, too bad it isnt true. If you wanted to hear how the music really was recorded and meant to be heard you need to go out and buy some nice stereo monitors (Genlec or the like) for about $5000 for the pair. Then you can really hear what it was supposed to sound like. :p

That said, i use a variant of the rock preset for my PB speakers, and use another slightly diff variant when playing back on my home stereo.

thats true.. every time i try changing the eq settings when i listen to a different genre i still end up sticking to hip hop.. by the way, i love your avitar.. "makaveli the DON till im gone.. a made n*gga"
 
A splash of bass with a generous helping of treble. Mmm... tasty.

I'm flipping between far too many genres to want to worry about an equalizer (yes, I know I could just set it in the songs). If anything, I may have Acoustic on. Oh, 'cept for a few jazz pieces which have an increased bass equalization to bring out the sometimes-hard-to-hear bass instruments.

Spoken Word for podcasts. a modified version of Rock (less highs) when playing through the JBL creatures (they're a tad bright, but then at very high volumes they get a bit boomy too). Flat when using high quality headphones.

Maybe a little off topic, but i use a cassette tape adapter for my car-iPod. I have to set the EQ to bass reducer or else my car sounds like distorted heavy bass. Anyone else find this?
