What exactly causes the bricked iphone, the jailbreaking or the unlocking or can either cause the problem???

Just wanted to know-

Thanks for the help...

when people don't know what they are doing

and think they bricked it.. Apples are 99.99% non brick able, the other .001 well who knows but I say hardware error or user error.

Mine was bricked about three weeks ago and I got an error 23 when trying to restore it. I connected it to XCode and tried to restore it there and it said there was a radio failure. Took it to Apple and they couldn't restore it so I got a new one.

Mine got bricked after I restored the phone and used some restore app in Cydia to restore my Cydia apps. Nothing would work on the iPhone, no WiFi, no edge, no 3g and no Bluetooth. All these options were dim in settings.

Neither jailbreaking nor unlocking causes iPhones to be bricked. Hardware failure can brick your iPhone, as I suppose conceivably could something like power failure in the middle of flashing the NOR memory. But we are talking about millions of iPhones successfully jailbroken and at worst a handful of cases which could easily be attributed to improper procedures or hardware failure. If people were bricking iPhones left and right we'd have far more threads here about it and it would be all over the web. Bricking doesn't just happen anymore.

I corrected that for you. You can't say it just doesn't happen.

It happens, just not as often as people think. Mine was bricked. Simple as that. I had an error 23 as well, just like the person above.

Sorry, I transposed "doesn't" and "just." I meant to say that it doesn't "just happen" anymore; for it to occur there has to be some sort of hardware failure or other contributing factor. This is more in keeping with the rest of my post.

It's ok! :D

It happened with mine when I restored from a backup that was jailbroken. Something in there didn't want to work correctly for whatever reason. I woke up to find the warning that my iPhone could not make or receive calls and that a restore was needed. Restoring it didn't work. The Apple Genius said he never saw anything like it hahaha
