What exactly does Apple do with reported abusive emails?

My spambox shows 4 or 5 abusive emails a day, mostly from sources in the US. For over a year I sent them as attachments to abuse@icloud.com. I hoped that they would be analyzed and that steps would be taken to block or sue the senders, but nothing has changed. Was I too idealistic? Does anyone (or any software) even look at the mails?

I do the same and it does seem to reduce the spams, at least the ones of that same type. I don't have any insight into exactly how Apple treats these though.

Not immediate... but over time it does seem to help. I was getting a lot of Facebook phishing emails, and sent each one to the spam@icloud.com address, and they have stopped completely now after about a month.

I think forwarding the emails to Apple (abuse@icloud etc) has the same effect as just deleting the mail or whistling in the wind. Sometimes the spam stops after a while, sometimes it doesn't.

For macOS you can try a spam filter (google spam filter for Mac) but this is not too reliable because Apple's backend server email filter often interferes with mail delivery. (you will notice that some mail ends up in your Junk folder even when you have Junk filtering turned off in Apple Mail - this Apple's backend server, of which the user has zero control, at work)

Or have all your Apple mail washed thru the google mail system (if you don't mind using gmail)

Ive been getting much of fb phishing emails. Ive forwarded a **** load to spam@icloud.com over the previous few months and I don't know if I'm wasting my time. Ive just started sending them to abuse@icloud.com, I'm hoping it might have some effect.

Apple's spam filter is pure junk. For a company that has access to so many engineers and resources, it sure does spit out garbage. I know forwarding all mail to Gmail is an option, I just don't want to go there yet. Its a shame we can't even JUST ONLY forward 'junk' from the web browser to gmail. Its all or nothing.

Ive had spam sieve but its not overly reliable. I don't even want to see phishing emails. Its so obvious I surprised Apple can't even filter this.
