What features do you want to see in an iWatch? What would make you want to buy one?

I would like it to be a standalone product that doesn't rely on the iPhone to work. I'd also like it to have internet access from mobile providers for FaceTime and iMessage if I was out on a run or something. (They could have a new setting in iOS 8 that would let people know to reach you there.)

What else would you like to see?

You nailed it, as far as I'm concerned. Otherwise, it's just a Bluetooth device for your wrist. And I wouldn't be interested in that at all.

I would like the device to have a round face with a round screen (I know I know, square faces just look so gaudy to me). Sexy parallax clock hands that "float" virtually above a custom background (and can remain ever present despite whatever app is running behind them). Low energy consumption. Extremely simple apps that won't be like a wall of text in my watch; just weather, maps, alarms, health tracker... Siri integration could negate the need to struggle with a tiny keyboard.
I want my watch to behave like practical tool rather than another marketplace for games an social networks.
Waterproofing would be nice too.

I can't say I can think of a single feature that would make me buy a smart watch. The idea seems gimmicky at best. I hope the fad passes.

I would like it to work with the iPhone and in its absence.

Features I want:

1) Heart rate monitor
2) Sleep monitor
3) pace/speed
4) pedometer
5) music
6) text
7) integration with, or their own apps that run on it, for running (like run keeper).
8) AppleTV remote
9) Open to developers.

Of all that I expect it will get: 1, 2, 4, 5 (wifi streaming, want actual storage), and 9.

I didn't even think of the sleep monitor! That would be a great one! I like the AppleTV remote too. These shouldn't be hard to do at all.

Noting. I toyed with the idea of getting a wrist strap for my nano but then I remembered I hate watches... love the nano with a clock face in a speakerdock upstairs.

I want a persistent, daylight friendly display that will sip battery. No bloody OLED!

Also Siri integration (via BT).

I can't think of anything that would make me buy one either. But leave it to Apple to give us something we don't think we need/want. They did it with the iPad.

none I'm not wearing a watch. Even if it's called iwatch. I and everyone else in the world (exept mh dad) stopped wearing them 5 years ago.

None. Wouldn't want one. Unless they were given free with every iPhone you buy! :)

I would like to see.....

a compass, odometer, glucose measurement, wide range of iPhones linked to make calls, wide support of sync with Apple hardware, water and shock resistant ( on some grade), price under 500 bucks.....:D...And obvious, a nice or customizable watch display showing the hour.....

Not necessarily in that order, tough. Can buy one, but not an early adopter....:D

The sleep monitoring is nice. I had it in my Jawbone wrist monitor. It was actually pretty cool! That was the main reason I had it. Thinking about picking up another one again just for that feature alone.

My overwhelming requirement is:

Very long battery life, or instant recharging or a way to swap batteries on the fly.

There's nothing more annoying than to realize that your watch can't be worn for a while because its battery is low.

--

Unlike a smartphone, I expect and desire my watch to always be on me (except in the shower or swimming).

However, perhaps I'm not in the majority. Do the other watch wearers here take theirs off at night?

The number 1 thing I want is... For people to accept it unlike with google glass where there's tons of people against the idea of others having it. But features I would like to see is water proof. That's the main one I want from apple. And I really want it to be priced at $99

I will accept nothing less than full General Jumbo functionality.

I don't think that, for me the iWatch would need its own internet connectivity. I'd like it to be used in conjunction with my iPad and iPhone not separate. I'd like it to have apps that allowed me to communicate with SIRI without taking my iPhone 5s out of the holster. I'd like the functions of my Fitbit (or something like it) into the iWatch.
