save me from going bald! please!

I migrated everything from my old intel iMac to my new macbook, but it went all wonky (my fault, I used monolingual and accidently killed rossetta)

so now, I have to reinstall the os...not a problem.

problem is, I've never had to do this without migration assistant, and I don't know what files I need to save/back up to add to my new account.
I want to keep things like my dock set up, my passwords, my flock/safari favs...all that stuff.

I am SO lost right now and it's really driving me crazy, I don't know who else to ask, this has been going on all weekend.

:(

You could just backup your entire home folder and copy it back over after you're installed OS X. Most of those settings will be in your user's Library folder.

I ran migration assistant and it went fine, then I did a dumbass thing and used monolingual which destroyed rossetta.
so I wiped the drive and tried migration assistant again, this time I didn't use monolingual, but for some reason every app crashes (usually when right clicking on something...a mispelt work in entourage..a file in whatsize)

so now I plan to Archive and install then pull my preference style files out of the archive and rebuilt the rest so as not to copy over whatever is causig the apps to crash, but I don't know which files to copy over.

there are pref files, and a library, but there seems to be a HDD library and my own User library *sigh*

...all this..and yet still better than a PC :D

Hi there ...

If I were you I would do another Erase and Install .... disconnect all peripherals except keyboard and mouse ...

Don't forget to do "Software Update" after .....

If you still are crashing there is a chance you have faulty ram ...

Good luck ....

All ram is apple's so I hope it's ok :(

I did an archive and install, then moved my library prefs ect from the previous system folder into the current, I've launched every application I have installed and all 78 of them run fine.
running the software updater then resarting.

thanks for your help guys, this weekend was meant to be a quick migration, turned into a bit of a nightmare.
