I'm thinking about getting a Macbook Pro because I've screwed up 2 PC's due to watching porn. I want to be able to play a FPS with high frames per second. I figure that means I need to buy an older game, so I'm debating between Quake 3 arena and Unreal Tournament 2004. What game do you like better and why?

if you want to try out quake 3 arena go to http://www.quakelive.com/ its a free online version which you can play in your browser.

unreal tournament 2004 should run well i used to play it with high graphics on my old powerbook g4, its a ppc app so im not sure how it runs on the newer intel machines since i havn't installed it on one but id expect it to run very well.

if you are getting the macbook pro with the discreet graphics id expect you'd be able to run most modern FPS with medium to maybe high depending on the game. though nothing gpu hungry like crisis

I personally like UT2004 more than Q3, but we had a great session in Q3 I've warmed up to this game a bit :)

Bottom line: play both.
