I am 99% sure it was possible to view 4K Ultra HD videos in 1440p on an iPad with the official YouTube app, wasn’t it?
No more - everything is capped at 1080p!
It’s same with Safari on Mac, I think it supported 1440p for a while too, but not anymore. Chrome works. Apparently it’s because some new codec Google is using which isn’t supported by Safari...
Just wondering why they don’t ship the codec in the YouTube app? I’m assuming the support for the most common video formats is implemented in iPad’s HW, but would an SW codec hit the battery that badly...
