What happened to iDVD?

It’s been a while since I made any family DVD’s but I want to burn a few home videos I have edited together to send to some family members.

I got a SuperDrive for my MacbookPro and made a few movies but there is no iDVD anymore! It used to be a super easy workflow to do this but now I’m kind of stuck.

What options do I have? Is there a way to install and run iDVD? I’m fully up to date with MacOS. I’d prefer to not have to pay $100 for an app.

I checked the App Store but it was a total crap shoot.

I tried iBurn, but the menu structure is static and looks rubbish. I would like to add some of my movie clips and photos like we could do with iDVD.
 
dwfaust - would have to agree. Apple have made some great programs - and then they just dump them. I still cry over Aperture. Lightroom just isn't as easy. iWeb was another that was great in education - but they dumped it.
 
The only app that's nearly as feature-rich and easy to use as iDVD is Toast 20. If you don't like the free DVDStyler or Burn, you might want to use the code ROXIOSTORE20 (valid till tomorrow) to get 20% off the upgrade price ($47.99 with the coupon code). If you have never owned a previous version of Toast, you can buy one on ebay for about $15 to make that legal.
$63 is still at least somewhat less than $100...
 
Final Cut Pro (even the trial) allows export to DVD and some basic menu options

I've switched to inexpensive flash drives. Most of my relatives have moved on from DVDs and even my mom's 9 year old TV plays media via USB.

Maybe reach out to them to see if they would prefer it that way? Might save you some hassle and side benefit is that you won't be sharing memories in 480i.

Another thumbs up for DVDStyler. It is what iDVD could have been. It also has basic templates for general usage and VERY customizable, including adding coding if you are into that. You can basically customize everything, more than iDVD ever did. iDVD was the best at the time (one of my favorite programs from Apple), but I tip my hat to DVDStyler.
