what happened to OS X 10.8.5?

there was a rumor a few weeks ago about OS X 10.8.5 being released already? not happening till we get closer to OS X 10.9 release or what? there has not been any new betas so whats going on?

I hall sorts of theories as to why they're waiting, but I guess well see it when we see it.

They could be working on additional bugs in 10.8.4 so that 10.8.5 can be the final 10.8.x release. They could've run into a major bug in 10.8.5 and are working on that. They have some feature they tossed in 10.8.5 that they don't want know until iOS 7 is announced. Of they be culd be as you suggested timing it around the Mavericks release.
