What happened to Photos the iPhoto/aperture replacement?

Yosemite has been released but the Photo programme is no where to be seen... any word on what happened?

It will be released next year as they have announced at WWDC. There will also be a iCloud.com Photos app soon.

It isn't out yet. There may be a beta this fall still prior to next year's launch.

He did. The OP is talking about the Mac "Photos" app (which is coming out next year) not the online service, which is what we'll be able to get now.
