What happened to Stronghold??

I have stronghold and Stronghold Crusader for PC but I want to get stronghold for my mac also. Ive looked all over to buy the game, but it is like $120. Is there anywhere to buy the game at a reasonable price or [cough] download it from a torrent[/cough]

Please reply :(
 
Thats very interesting, it looks like they stopped making this game. I personally bought the game when it first came out and loved it, however it gets kind of old with all of the new graphics in games these days. It is def not worth 120 bucks though..try ebay.

Well... I want Stronghold too, but 120 $ is too expensive and irrational price for that...

If you don't want to get reported, you should probably stop publically trying to solicit a pirate copy. The game's quite a few years old and out of production, and still desirable to some people who will pay whatever price price the market will bear. Simple economics. Also you don't have a right to something for free just because you want it...go buy some other game that's still available. Sorry for the lecture, but sheesh! I'm not selling my copy, either. :rolleyes:

Oh man. I absolutely loved this game. I used to play it allllll the time.

Oh, and to the person that posted above me: One guy selling one copy on amazon isn't a fair market. He has a monopoly on used/new stronghold copies on Amazon, so he is able to charge whatever he likes. Once someone else sells a copy, then you can talk about the market all you want.
 
Man, what a good game. It's a shame it's out of print, but it is an old game. I wish you luck in your search, though.:)

It reminds me of the King's Quest Collection that Sierra used to sell. I was looking for a copy on Amazon and it was selling for $200! :eek: Fortunately, they released another version, though it's not as good.:(

Alright it's out of printing, but that price is NOT acceptable (for me and for other "poor" people - from eastern Europe for example ... like me)...
I don't believe that you think it's fair... :(
I just want to play a cool PC game on my Mac too. That's all...
And i think that "birdman12078" also just want the same... am I right?
Create copy for a friend - that's not a guilt... in my opinion...
(perhaps nobody thought that the game'll live out the firm which create it... :D funny...)

Sorry... but i'm sick of some firm's "economics"... really sorry... :(

120 bucks for a copy of the original Stronghold?!? Uh-uh. At that price it'd be cheaper to buy a copy of windows xp and install the pc versions using boot camp.

I realize that there aren't many copies of the game out, especially for mac, but $120 is just exorbitant. I'd definitely keep looking on Amazon/Ebay/Craigslist.
 
I have it requested on Goozex (game trading site if you don't already know*) but it has never been traded and there is someone ahead of me. On the up side it is only 150 points (~$7.50).

* if you haven't heard of Goozex, check the site out. They do small referral rewards, but I'm more interested in just growing the Mac user base on the site!
 
Fun game it is. I like building things in the free mode, put a lot of peasants and spearmen into my "pit" and use the oil to burn them.
 
The itch

I got the itch to play Stronghold on the Mac today also. But found that though the price had dropped, it was still $83. Very unreasonable. I would think with digital downloads, the licensing companies could afford to sell it for much cheaper than that.
