Hey everyone,

Got a questions for you all. After the 2010 MBA's came out, I saw they were selling the refurb MBA rev. C (regular hard drive) for $850 on the Apple Store. It was in the refurb listings for quite a while but has disappeared since the day before (or the day of) Black Friday. Is it really possible that they are out of stock, or do you think they stopped listing it because it was cutting into sales of the new MBA's? And thus they might have it listed again after the holiday shopping season?

Just seems odd to me that it has completely disappeared, but the SSD version continues on the refurb site. $850 is an incredibly good price for a machine that is still pretty good, so maybe they really did sell everything they had and they won't list it again until the stock piles up some more.

And yes, I know the 2010 MBA are much better, etc.. But for a 13 inch screen MBA, this price point is pretty nice.

Thanks for any thoughts or suggestions about what might be up with this listing.

I have it, seriously :) I bought one, but it had an issue I noticed upon delivery. When I called to process the exchange, the agent said it looks like you're getting the last one currently in stock. Sure enough, after my exchange order processed, that SKU went out of stock.

You do realize that refurbs can be one of a kind right? Cutting into sales? No. Apple would love for you to buy their refurbs, it clears out old inventory. That's a good price, that's why you are asking people on this forum about it. Most likely somebody bought it. Just keep checking the refurb store for other deals.

It will pop back up. Just keep checking. Seems like apple keeps an actual quantity on hand and stops selling them when they are gone.

I have seen it up there recently.

Hmmm. Glad to get your info and know that maybe their stock is based on reality and not on the holiday shopping season.

Are you enjoying the MBA? Any regrets about getting it instead of the 2010 version?

Yes, I do realize that. But my understanding is that after a new model is announced, there are usually a lot of refurbs which aren't really "refurbs" - they are just older versions that weren't sold before the new model came out. Which would explain why this particular model was listed for such a long time. Could be wrong about this, though.

FYI, If you have a Micro Center near you they are clearing out their remaining stock of the previous generation MBA for $899 and they are brand new.

Well, I got it for my mother as an early holiday present. I have a 2010 MBA that I love, but my mother is fascinated by the backlit keyboard plus she's not a heavy user by any means, so this fit perfectly.

Long story short, I actually went eBay first but had to dispute it due to water damage (even advertised as used but like new) so after that drama, I decided to just buy it from Apple worry free.

Update: The MBA RevC for $850 showed up again yesterday for the first time since just before Black Friday. I don't think that kind of timing is just a coincidence!
