Usually all week there would be TONS of things being annouced. This year I only found 2 new games I was somewhat interested in. Hell! Blizzard totally just ditched E3 this year and didnt annouce or show anything other than some stupid forest in WoW.
After the first day of E3 after the Sony, MS, and Nintendo press event there really wasnt much going on at E3.
E3 is a shadow of its former self. I was at five ones previous to this years show. There was very little ROI for the companies involved since 90% of the people clogging the booths had no real purpose at the show. They would only get in because the worked at Best Buy, Gamestop or wherever. Then they would mill around looking for free stuff and gawking at the boothbabes.
Many of the companies that went to E3 actually hated it because it imposed an artificial deadline - they just HAD to present something at E3. If a product wasn't ready for primetime, like the Stargate FPS, they would show it and it would get hammered because it wasn't 'polished' or 'refined'. In Stargate's case, they made a huge production out of it. There were playable demoes running and they even had the Stargate from the TV show at their booth. You could walk through it, touch it, whatever. It was actually pretty cool. Of course, that game is now canceled. I wonder if it would have made it to retail if the company hadn't blown millions of dollars on their booth at E3.
Last year Sony got raked over the coals because they didn't have a single playable PS3 on the floor. They had plenty of mockups and dev kits running demoes, but no finished product. Every PS3 I saw was under a plexiglass enclosure or behind a closed door.
Not all companies hated E3 though. Most of the vendors in Kentia hall were happy to be there. I would see some crazy stuff down there. Guitar Hero was first shown in Kentia hall.
I wouldn't expect much more to happen with E3. Next year's will probably be smaller even than this years.
