It was only a concept, I'm sure there are companies working with it. I'm not sure an ultra portable fits in to Apple's line anymore (the way they see it anyway).
 
The article stated someone was making essentially that prototype. Probably not Apple, but whoever is doing it, it has the potential to be a lovely notebook!
 
When I first saw this and having read about Intel's previous Newport technology demonstrator for laptops - I was convinced that Apple would be the ones to pick this ball up and run with it!

Apple and Intel seem quite smitten with each other and I'm sure this concept will be the new consumer MacBook range myself.

1/ quick view second screen for checking wireless signal, emails etc
2/ always on - extreme power management
3/ metal casing
4/ flash memory
5/ 6hr battery
6/ seemless connectivity switching
7/ ultra- portable (weight/design)

all up Apples street I think!
