Well, considering I have yet to see another iPhone in the wild, whenever mine comes it I get eye rapped for my entire phone call. Don't you hate it when you then look at the rapist and they just look down and away? Its funny. I had 4 very flamboyant male hair dressers wanting a demo of the phone. One of their clients was getting impatient, started yelling.

Any funny stories?

ive seen 3 iphones in the wild, and i got really jealous every time because mine doesn't ship till the 13th :(

surprisingly nothing! I am always hesitant in pulling it out in the public, in fear that I'll have to give a demo. Or worse, let someone demo it. But so far nothing! And I have only seem one other person use one in public. Maybe it's because I live in silicon valley?

Well i get looked over all the time but i think its because im 16 and that im wearing a bluetooth headset and wearing apple gear but it could just be me lol:D

an immediate darkness fell across the face of the planet, and the eyes of the world focused on me... silence was even silenced. A beam of pure, white light fell upon me as I pinched my screen to zoom in on a web page... then... the earth ceased to exist.

Whipping out iPhone

Everyone wants to see it of course. I tell them I charge for that. The sales girl at RadioShack replied I can see it at the Apple Store. And I said be my guest :D

well, i used mine at a harry potter midnight showing, and all of a sudden, out of the corner of my eye, i see someone else using an iphone.

it was pretty nice looking lady, so i called out, "is that an iphone?" she said yeah, and i flashed mine, and i ran up to her and we gave each other high fives.

thats pretty much my story.

Just about every one of my co-workers have asked to play with it. I was in the security checkpoint line at the airport, and the guy in front of me was freaking out about it, and when i put it through the xray machine-thing at the security checkpoint, even the security lady was like, "no way! is that an iphone!?" everyone acts like it is the cure to cancer or something. almost everyone asks what i spent on it and when i tell them, they all say, "$600 for a phone??" and i always tell them that it is worth every penny.

i saw one iphone in the wild the second day they came out. I was the restaurant i work at (Carrabba's) and some guy was showing everyone else at his table.

I have been asked about it probably 40 times though. I love the attention.

I've probably given 30 demos to people on how cool it is.

It is insane...however I have seen quite a few out in the wild. Not so rare being that I work in New York City.

I do get the..."wooooooooowwwwwwww you have the iPhone" alllll the time. I must have given at least 100 demos to.

Nerd overload (no offense meant, i love both! 6 days till the book!)

Pulled it out during a poker tournament at a local card room to check my email. Some dude says "let me see it". Never seen this guy before in my life. I reply, "no".

Not a warm and fuzzy story, but I find i'm either overly protective or very willing to demo.

plenty of random people have asked to see my iFone™... are they insane? are they serious? or are they just seriously insane?

I DON'T KNOW YOU!!! You're not seeing my iFone™!!!

Of the nine people at the tech company I work for, the three partners got iPhones along with the lead graphic designer and myself (sales/marketing). It's always funny to see the bunch of us playing with them if we go out to lunch or to get a beer after work - I suppose we *might* be able to keep them in our pockets once the novelty wears off.

On top of that, I was walking out of the main doors to our building when I heard the same iPhone ringtone (classic phone bell ringer) that one of the partners uses. I turned to look, and saw a guy from a different office going to answer his call. I said "iPhone" and flashed mine like a gang sign. He gave me a big smile that perfectly completed the nerd-bonding-moment.

(I was also listening to MP3s on my iPhone before the Harry Potter movie on Friday...)
:D

I have yet to see any out in the wild, but I've been keeping mine under wraps somewhat. Now that I have a case, though, I'm going to proudly display it for all to drool over. :D

I've only had it for two days, but so far I got a couple "Is that an iPhone!?!" and a "You spent $600 on a phone?". I've given 4 demos so far, I like the attention.

Wow you spent 600 on a phone?

Well I spent 400 on my first blackBerry and no one seems to think that was too much.

But that is my usual counter response. "I spent $400 on my first Blackberry and it is nowhere near as cool/easy to use/etc as this."

Except email. The BBerry is still king of email. But Apple can fix that with software.

so far I've just gotten looks, like people are seeing something they don't quite understand...then they get it and move on, maybe staring a little more.

I've given mini demo's to the people I work with, even let a few of them hold it with the provision that if they drop it they buy it
Other than that, I prefer to not attract attention to myself, I don't need random people asking me if they can hold it. But I was able to help a random person the other day, he asked me where a street was that I didn't know, I tapped maps and typed in the name and told him where to go :)
