So I turned on my Mac Pro today. It said there was a firmware update, so I updated it. Now my dvd-rom drive does not read dvd's. I insert them and DVD player pops up but does not play. The disc does not show up in Finder either. I am trying a regular cd now....

you should try double checking your Boot ROM version in System Profiler. it should read MP11.005C.B04.
