What happens to child AppleID once children grow up ?

Forgive me if this has already been posted but I could not find any answer to my question.

I am thinking about settimg up Family sharing but have a question regarding child apple ID. My daughter has no appleID yet, so I would need to set one up for her. Since she is almost 14 should I set up a child ID directly through family sharing or should I set it up directly on her iPhone before activating family sharing ? this would then be a normal ID if I am not mistaken, which she will then be able to keep, whereas I have no idea what will happen to her child ID once she will be grown up and wants to quit family sharing ? Will she then need an adult AppleID and have to buy all her stuff again ?

Yes, your daughter will lose access to things you've purchased once she leaves the family group. But purchases she initiated but that you paid for, she will keep and you will lose.

She can remain in the family group for as long as you like though. It isn't like her account is automatically kicked out when she turns 18 or something.

When you leave Family Sharing, your Apple ID is removed from the family group and you won't have access to any services shared by your family. This might include an Apple Music family membership or a shared iCloud storage plan. You stop sharing locations with your family members and your devices are removed from the family Find My iPhone list. If your family shares iTunes, iBooks, and App Store purchases, you immediately stop sharing your purchases and lose access to the purchases made by your other family members.

Any content that your family shared with you isn't automatically removed from your device. You can purchase it again or remove it to free up space on your device. If you downloaded an app from a family member’s purchase history and made In-App Purchases, you'll need to purchase the app yourself to access your In-App Purchases.

Any DRM-protected music, movies, TV shows, books, or apps that you previously downloaded from other family member's collections are no longer usable, and other family members can't use content downloaded from your collection.

You'll keep any purchases you initiated while part of the family group. However, if the organizer was paying for ongoing subscriptions, you need to start paying for them yourself using a valid payment method on your account. Learn how to add a credit or debit card to your iTunes Store account.

If you share a photo album, calendar, or reminders with family members, you won't share them anymore. If you want to keep using Family Sharing but not share certain features with your family, you can unsubscribe from them instead in the Photos, Calendars, or Reminders apps on your device or on iCoud.com.

Thanks for your answer. I understand that she will lose access to all purchases once she leaves the family, but could I not still sync all purchases on her phone via iTunes connecting it to my Mac ? Would this create any problems to her for updating apps etc. ? I assume she would then only need my AppleID and Password in order to update the apps, correct ?

ok,took me some time to read through the whole thread...
I understand that I will not be able to sync the apps unless I use Apple configurator 2 or similar, but should still be able to sync the music bought through my iTunes account, correct ? Can I set up her phone with her appleID for iCloud and use my AppleID for ITunes or would that mess anything up across our devices ? Or maybe I should just let her use her appleID also for ITunes and just buy her music and apps over again, since it is not a lot of stuff as she just started using an iphone. Any suggestions are welcome as I prefer setting this up correctly right from the beginning.

I mean... she's 14, so I hardly think she'll be leaving for her own family anytime soon!

When you say "sync the music bought" - do you use itunes match, apple music? or simply the old fashioned "buy music, load it up" way? She *could* use her own apple id for icloud and your apple id for itunes but it would screw with automatic downloads a little IIRC. If it's apple music, i'd recommend family sharing as I doubt you do really want to share music libraries with a 14 year old girl.

A lot can happen in 4 years+. Buying stuff like apps twice now makes no sense. I have a lot of apps from 4 years ago that don't even work anymore.

By buying I mean the “old fashioned” way buy music, download it. I have no problems with having her music on my phone as I usually use it in the car to stream music during journeys. I think I will get her an appleID for iCloud and just continue using my appleID for itunes, since I have to pay anyway...
