Hello everyone. This is my first post. I swear I tried searching for the answer to my question first.

So, let's say I'm iMessageing (iMing? iM-ing?) my friend from my iPhone to hers, when I have a 3G signal and she only has a 2G signal. What happens to the message?

Not sure. She'll get the message... it will fall back to SMS if necessary. Might come in over EDGE data, though.

Recipient offline

If the recipient is offline (data/wifi off), will the iPhone send text as sms?
How long will it take to revert to sms?
I suppose the iPhone will rely on pings made by apple servers to the recipient phone, and they will warn the sender that the recipient's iphone is offline.
Will it send the sms automatically?

How long will it take to reverse to sms? if you disconnect, bubbles go green and stay green. connect to network and bubbles go blue.

Will it send the sms automatically? the text or imessage will go through the same

I was asking this because earlier I was doing some tests with my girlfriend. I went shopping with my data/wifi off and I said to her to send me a message.
In her iphone I was still blue while and the message was delivered only when I got back home.

you can hold down the message and send it as a text if it doesn't get delivered.

i turned off 'send as text' in the menu cause i send messages internationally.. and i don't want it to send as a text especially if it's bound to the US

That's what I was hoping, but I don't think that's the case. It seems that if I send a message to someone that I have successfully sent an iMessage to in the past, it will default to sending an iMessage.

I guess if I want to message someone that I think might be in area with bad wireless service and no WiFi, then I should send an SMS. Bummer.
