I use the Sleep/Wake Up alarm function in iOS. Every so often, I'll wake up on my own, an hour or so after my alarm was set, and iPhone will show on the screen like the alarm is alarming and I have a choice to snooze but there is no sound. The volume is up. If I hit snooze it will alarm 9 minutes later.

Why am I not hearing this? Is this a bug? Am I just sleeping through it and the sound/vibrations stop after a few minutes?

So far, I haven't missed or been late for work. I'm worried it'll happen one of these days, though.

There are two things you could check out:

- ensure the phone is not connected to an audio bluetooth device, as it would play the alert on that device,

- if you are wearing an Apple Watch, check that the watch is not set to silent (Red bell symbol). I had it set by mistake a few times and missed my alarm. I cannot remember if in this case it vibrates for a while and I don’t have time to check now, but in any case the vibration would stop after a short while and it is early missed (I did).

I have some bluetooth earbuds ( Anker ) If I am listening to a podcast for example, my iPhone sometimes stays connected even after I've closed the podcast app and put the earbuds back in the charging case. I've learned now to look for the bluetooth symbol next to the speaker icon.

I have the mute switch off, no Bluetooth devices, and volume up.

I want to see how long the alarm plays before timing out or stopping but I always forget when I wake up.

I think the alarm never turns off. At least I’ve never had the patience to wait long enough to find out.

Ok, so I was off today and slept through it. I had my alarm set for 7am. I woke up maybe about 7:20am, laid in bed for a while, and finally looked at my phone to see what time it was. There was no vibration or noise coming from it. I took the attached screen shot, hit snooze, and stayed laying down. It went off again 9 minutes later, this time I heard it. Snoozed it, put it under my pillow, and got up to watch a couple of YouTube videos and drink coffee.

8:30am I checked on it. No noise, no vibration, but a similar screen like it was going off.

Later in the day, I noticed my Apple Watch SE (cracked screen, never use it) showed the alarm was going off on the screen but no sound or vibration. I remember I used to have some issue with the alarm if I was either wearing the watch or had it off the charger.

For tonight, I just turned it off. Hopefully iPhone wakes me up at 3:35am.

It didn't sound again this morning. Or it did, for a few minutes, then stopped.

I'm off the next 2 days. I'm going to do a backup and restore and see if that helps. My speaker doesn't seem as loud like it used to be. Maybe it normally stops after 20 minutes or something and I'm just not hearing it in time?

Am I the only one having this problem? Maybe the title isn't descriptive enough?
