iPod what happens when you replace an old ipod?

I have a 5th gen ipod which I have a feeling is going to die on me. I am going on vacation in 4 days and will not survive the 11 hour flight without my ipod.
My question is, if I buy a new ipod, can I sync itunes to it? I know this is a dumb question but I thought your purchased music from itunes can only be played on one ipod.

yes you can

you can sync you original library to your new ipod, you just have to authorize it (the ipod) using your apple account.
