What happens when you try to download a file in Safari?

This seems to be a UI mistake. When I try to download a file, I get a blank Safari page that partly loads, but no indication of whether or not the file downloaded (I'm assuming not) or where it might go. Does it just detect a non-iPad friendly file and disregard?

If so, devs should build a prompt into Safari that tells you that.

you can download files directly within GoodReader ($.99) and if its a Zip file, it will unzip it within the App as well.

example: if you want to download a zip file, using Safari browser, copy the address link of the file (http://movies.apple.com/movies/us/pr/photos/ipad/1004ipad_hometimes.tif.zip) and then Paste it in GoodReader (download tab), then unzip it and export in to Photos or DropBox.

this method also works with MP3, Movies, Documents etc...

its not a simple method, but for now, its the best that I know of.

Thanks, yeah I'm a big fan of GoodReader. I'll def start using it this way. But I'm still wondering what Safari does when you attempt to download a file. It just stops loading without a prompt? Seems like a bad idea, no?
