I close my MBP 2021 14 inch while its on? Does it automatically go to sleep?

When you close the lid, your MBPro sleeps - right now! :cool:
Nothing automatic about that, when you manually put it to sleep by closing the lid.

Unless you have an external monitor connected to it. It will rewake displayed on the desktop.
